In a historic win for firefighters, teachers and state and municipal employees, 327 members of the United States House of Representatives — including Congressman Jared Golden and Congresswoman Chellie Pingree — voted for a full repeal of Social Security offset penalties, restoring full retirement

The Local S6 Women’s Committee worked hard throughout the month of October to collect cleaning materials to donate to New Hope Midcoast, a regional domestic violence resource center that has served the Midcoast area since 1981.

Registered apprenticeships are the gold standard of job training programs. They provide workers with life-changing skills and a pathway to good jobs that support families and lift communities. 

While there were some major labor defeats in elections at the national level, in Maine, we were fortunate in that we were able to re-elect Congressman Jared Golden, Congresswoman Chellie Pingree and Senator Angus King to help fight for us in Congress.

Members of the Bangor Daily News Union have ratified their first contract. After three days of voting, 89 percent of BDN Union members unanimously voted to accept the terms of their first two-year contract.
