Summer Institute

AUGUST 7 & 8, 2019, Orono

A project of the Maine AFL-CIO and the Bureau of Labor Education, the Summer Institute has been our long-standing tradition of bringing union members together to meet each other, learn new skills, and build our power. The Institute is a mix of formal workshops and networking where we can all have a chance to get to know each other. Last year, the highlight of the event was when German union members were able to share their own experiences with Maine workers. We are hosting an international delegation again this year.

We hope that you join us this summer as we work to build the power of the labor movement in Maine and fight to win more changes to improve the lives of union members and working families in Maine.  This year's Labor Summer Institute will be held on Wednesday, August 7 and Thursday, August 8th in Orono at the University of Maine.

This year, we are excited to offer an optional half-day "Unions 101" training on Tuesday, August 6th from 12pm - 5 pm. This is for younger and/or newer union members who would benefit from an orientation to the larger labor movement.  We will start with lunch and end the training at 5 pm followed by an optional social gathering and pizza.
