What: Pre-apprentice graduation from Union Construction Academy of Maine

When: Thursday, May 1 · 6 - 7:30pm, Doors at 5:30pm

Where: 501 Forest Avenue, Portland

Over the past five weeks, seventeen pre-apprentices in the Union Construction Academy pre-apprenticeship program have earned certifications including OSHA-10, First-Aid/CPR, Hotworks, Scaffolding-User, and Flagging. They have developed confidence by participating in a variety of hands-on training experiences, ranging from mixing and pouring concrete, to wiring outlets and hanging drywall. Over the course of their time in the program, the pre-apprentices have met with representatives from different trades and union signatory contractors so they can make an informed decision about what apprenticeship pathway they want to pursue. They have also come together as a team, while learning about the meaning of union membership and the importance of solidarity.

Our ceremony will include remarks from members of the Maine Labor Movement, and program graduates.
