We live in an economy dominated by big corporations and the billionaire class. Working people are pitted against each other while the powerful reap all the rewards. We need an agenda that unites working people and puts our interests first, and no one can build it but us.

That’s why Maine’s labor movement built the Contract with Maine’s Working Class. It’s like a union contract but for all working people across our state. Healthcare for all. Affordable housing and childcare. Wages that keep up with rising costs. And making sure the rich pay their fair share in taxes. Check out our Contract with Maine’s Working Class here.

Troy Jackson has been a champion for the working class for years and has always stood by us when we’re in a fight. On Labor Day, Troy promised to carry our Contract to Washington with his Pledge to Working Mainers.

Make Government Work for Working People: Ban Members of Congress and their families from trading individual stocks. Get dark money and corporate PAC money out of our elections.

Make Health Care a Human Right: Pass Medicare for All and negotiate over prescription drug prices.

Make it Possible to Raise a Family: Build housing for working people and stop Wall Street from buying up our homes. Make childcare free or affordable to all young families.

Make Work Pay Again: Raise the minimum wage to $20 per hour, indexed to inflation every year. Make sure workers have the freedom to organize a union without fear of retaliation. Guarantee paid time off to all working people. Make sure workers have a voice in how AI is deployed.

Expand Working People’s Retirement: Strengthen Social Security and increase benefits – never privatize, cut benefits or raise the retirement age. Make millionaires and billionaires pay Social Security taxes on all their income just like workers do.

Make the Rich Pay their Fair Share: If you’re a billionaire or a giant corporation, you chip in your fair share to keep it running.
