Twenty-five Mainers from eight unions just finished a six-week

Over 400 fans turned out for the inaugural “Battle of the Bridge Tournament" on June 22, in which the Portland Professional Firefighters (IAFF 740) defeated the South Portland Professional Firefighters (IAFF 1476) 6-2.

The Portland Fire Department is looking for its next group of recruits to join the largest and busiest first response agency in Maine. Applications are open now with a potential lateral academy late summer or early fall.
