SKOWHEGAN, Maine, Jan. 17, 2025 — IAM Union Local 2740 (District 4) members who work as millwrights at the Sappi mill in Skowhegan, Maine, overwhelmingly voted to reject a contract offer from company management.

On Tuesday, stagehands and technicians who bring concerts to life at the State Theatre in Portland  won their National Labor Relation Board election to unionize with International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 114.

On Tuesday, WGME-TV workers (IBEW 1837) were joined by other union members and supporters at an informational picket for a fair contract in Portland. The workers held their picket ahead of another bargaining session with the TV station’s parent company Sinclair that afternoon.
