AUGUSTA — The Maine AFL-CIO condemns Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s decision to eliminate the union representing 47,000 Transportation Security Officers (PSO) with the Transportation Security Administration, roughly 140 of whom work at Maine’s airports.

Unions at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard are bracing for potential mass layoffs as part of billionaire Elon Musk’s efforts to dramatically reduce the federal workforce, including at the shipyard which employs nearly 8,000 people, including 4,300 Mainers.
