Nearly 50 Maine Trust for Local News workers won their election Monday to form a union with the News Guild of Maine Local 31128 of the News Guild-Communications Workers of America. The union won a landslide victory of 34-1 out of 49 eligible votes.

On Tuesday, a majority of faculty at Thomas College voted to unionize with the Maine Education Association (MEA), marking a significant step forward in their efforts to strengthen faculty voice and collaboration.

On Wednesday, nearly 750,000 workers nationwide will be locked out, put on leave (furloughed) or forced to work without pay due to the Trump administration’s stubborn refusal to address the mounting health care crisis and fund the government.

Plans are underway to reactivate the Maine chapter of the Alliance for Retired Americans. The ARA is an AFL-CIO organization for union retirees. We want to know what contact locals are already maintaining with retirees and how their retirees stay connected with the labor movement.
