Unions at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard are bracing for potential mass layoffs as part of billionaire Elon Musk’s efforts to dramatically reduce the federal workforce, including at the shipyard which employs nearly 8,000 people, including 4,300 Mainers.

Apprentices with IBEW 567, Laborers 327 members and possibly apprentices of Plumbers & Pipefitters 716 will be doing renovations on the Local 14 Solidarity Center in Jay on Saturday, March 15 starting at 8am.
