UPS workers with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 340 have been holding a series of “practice pickets” at nine UPS facilities around the state to prepare for a potential strike in August if the company refuses to settle a fair contract.

Legislators, the Mills Administration, the Maine AFL-CIO, Maine Labor Climate Council, the Maine Building Trades, the Maine Lobstering Union (IAM 207), and environmental organizations have agreed on consensus language that will advance a major omnibus offshore wind bill in the Maine Legislature.

Governor Janet Mills has signed into a bill into law that grants workers the freedom to not attend employer captive audience meetings about religion or politics, including whether to form a union.

Earlier this month the Maine Legislature voted to define farmworkers as employees under Maine law and to ensure that they receive Maine's minimum wage. Governor Janet Mills has until Wednesday to sign it, veto it or let it become law without her signature.
