Last week, Maine U.S. Senate Candidate Graham Platner announced that Troy Jackson earned his top vote in the race for Maine Governor. Platner shared his support for the fifth-generation logger and former Maine Senate President at the Hancock County Democrats meeting in Ellsworth. Platner said he also ranked Secretary of State Shenna Bellows and former House Speaker Hannah Pingree for his other choices.

“I ranked Troy Jackson #1 when I voted. Troy and I are entirely aligned on labor issues and organizing issues, and I think our policies align quite closely. And as many of you probably know, organized labor is a key to what I think the future of the Democratic Party is,” said Platner.

“I’m proud to have my friend Graham Platner’s #1 vote. Maine needs the working class to step up and fight back against the billionaires and corporations holding us down. That’s why Graham and I are running — to make government work for workers. And kick some billionaire ass,” said Jackson.

Jackson and Platner also appeared together alongside U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders at the Fighting Oligarchy rallies in Orono and Portland this weekend.

Jackson has a history of winning consistently in deeply conservative parts without compromising his values — he won a district that went for Trump three times while in the Maine Senate. The year he termed out, Democrats lost that seat by 30 points – to the same Republican candidate.

“The time for change is now. Together, with folks like Bernie Sanders, Graham Platner and the broad coalition we've built of the course of this campaign, we will stand up, fight back and win in June and November,” said Jackson.
