Troy Jackson to Debate Republican Bobby Charles in Auburn

A debate between former Senate President and Candidate for Governor Troy Jackson and Bobby Charles has been scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25 at the Hilton Garden Inn Auburn Riverwatch. The debate will be moderated by Andy O’Brien, Communications Director of the Maine AFL-CIO; and Carroll Conley, former director of the Christian Civic League of Maine. Topics will include law enforcement, crime, drugs, immigration, ICE enforcement and government corruption.
Earlier this month, Jackson challenged Charles to a debate following a series of offensive, racist statements and downright lies made by the Republican candidate for governor.
"Bobby Charles hides behind his keyboard spewing hateful and racist rhetoric and stoking fear. It’s shameful and cowardly, and not what Maine needs in a governor,” said Jackson. “Right now, Mainers are facing real challenges. Folks are struggling to put a roof over their head, heat their home and make ends meet. Mainers deserve a governor who will lead on these issues and make their lives better, not some race-baiting clown who pedals in outrage for clicks online."
The event is not open to the public at the insistence of Charles. However, the event will be live streamed here.
