Last week, registered nurses at Houlton Regional Hospital (HRH) in Houlton launched a four-day strike to protest management’s refusal to address their serious concerns about emergency department (ED) staffing and its impact on patient care, announced Maine State Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee (MSNA/NNOC).

The Houlton nurses have been bargaining since the fall of 2024, now with their second management team across the table. HRH RNs are fighting for improved staffing, to retain skilled and dedicated nurses. They want to be able to hire and keep new nurses, so HRH doesn’t have to rely on travelers from away.

The nurses are asking for your help to fix these problems. Make your voice heard by sending an email to HRH Trustee President Lynette McLaughlin, telling the Hospital to settle a fair contract that supports our community, patients and nurses.
