Longtime FAM member and former Board Member, Jenna Dumoulin suffered a serious break to her foot on  August 5 and underwent reconstructive surgery on August 12. Jenna is a single mom with 13- and 3-year-old sons to care for and she works three jobs just to stay afloat. This extremely hard-working mom was told not to put any weight on her foot at all, and recovery from the surgery will take 6-8 weeks. This injury means she can't work at all, and the nature of her jobs means has lost her income and has no paid time off. She has no paid time off and recently lost MaineCare because she briefly earned a few dollars above the income cutoff. Jenna also has diabetes, which increase the risk of complications from this injury.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Donate to help Jenna with expenses while she's out of work. Use this link to make a donation by card, or to avoid the card processing fees, mail a check to us with a note or "Jenna" in the memo line. It's helpful to let us know if you're going to mail a check. FAM will give 100% of donations to Jenna for expenses.
  • Volunteer to help with some of the things that Jenna isn't able to do right now:
    • Help clean Jenna's house. (Two young boys means that's an ongoing job.)
    • Help clean at FAM. (Jenna has been cleaning at FAM once a week.)

All donations through this fundraiser will go directly to Jenna and her children's needs, like keeping their lights and water on. To bypass card processing fees, you can mail a check to Food AND Medicine, 20 Ivers Street, Brewer ME 04412. Email Melissa@foodandmedicine.org if you're able to volunteer to help with cleaning, or if you have any questions.
