For thousands of working Maine families, finding quality, affordable childcare is a constant struggle. They end up on waiting lists for childcare slots, cut back on work hours and constantly juggle child care with work responsibilities.

It doesn't have to be this way. Last year, the Maine Legislature took real action to improve the childcare situation. They raised the income threshold for the Child Care Affordability Programwhich means lots more families will qualify for help paying for child care. They funded wage supplements to keep and recruit child care workers in the field.

Unfortunately, the Governor's proposed budget goes backwards on this progress and would cut child care funding. We are organizing to speak out against these cuts and to make sure we prioritize support for child care.  There is a rally and public hearing on Thursday, February 13th at the State House to tell the Legislature to stop the cuts to child care. Can you be there?
