A search committee has selected four finalists for a faculty position at the Charles A. Scontras Center for Labor and Community Education at the University of Southern Maine. All four candidates will be on campus over the next few weeks and you are invited to meet them and provide feedback.

The Lecturer in Sociology and Labor Educator will design labor education workshops, courses, certificate programs, trainings, symposia, and conferences that strengthen worker power and facilitate workplace democracy. The center will serve both existing members and leaders of unions and labor organizations and the broader Maine working class, including low-income workers and Maine’s immigrant communities.

Each candidate has been asked to give a teaching session that will be open to the public and accessible either in person or on Zoom. All in-person locations are on the USM Portland campus. All candidates were asked to prepare their presentations using various prompts. Dennis Hogan, PhD, will be doing the first presentation on Wednesday, January 28 at 5:30pm in Payson Smith Hall Room 301A at the University of Southern Maine, 96 Falmouth Street, Portland, ME

The other three candidates will be giving demonstrations on February 2, February 4 and February 11, all at 5:30pm.
