Registration Now Open for Organizing for Power November Classes

Organizing for Power is a free online training program developed by the late union organizer Jane McAlevey and produced by Rosa-Lux to help union members build the organizing skills necessary to win changes at work, contract fights, and unionization efforts. The Maine AFL-CIO is assembling a cohort of people to participate in O4P’s November 2026 “Power Up” class. Our Maine team will hold an orientation on Nov. 5. Classes will be held on Nov. 10, 12, 17 and 19 on Zoom.

We win when we harness our greatest collective strength – our numbers. Power-Up teaches the core methods of organizing, to help you build strong majorities and win your campaigns.
Power-Up will cover:
- The difference between mobilizing and organizing,
- Leader Identification: how to harness the power of social relationships to build majorities in your context,
- The importance of word choice,
- How to conduct Structured Organizing Conversations,
- The steps to develop a solid Plan to Win,
- Structure Tests.
The program will be structured around a narrative that links labor and community injustices around a shared campaign.
Our trainings are participatory and designed to support your existing campaigns: sessions will include moments in plenary and break-out groups, and participants will be supported by group exercises, worksheets, and homework.
Whether you are organizing a new union, organizing members of an existing union around a contract or other campaign, or organizing in your community, this course teaches the core skills needed to succeed. Download a O4P flier to share with your organizing buddies!
