New Oil Tank & Water Line Repairs

Progress continues at the Solidarity Center! On June 25, a new oil tank was installed and relocated behind the building—eliminating the need for protective measures against roof runoff. Just days earlier, on June 19, we walked in to find water spraying up through the cement slab due to a break in the main water line coming into the building. It took until June 30 to get an excavator on site, but we now have brand-new water lines running from the town shutoff valve and routed through the ceiling—no more underground surprises!

Mural Restoration & Reproduction

Brother Randy Berry has been working hard to repair the mural at the Solidarity Center. Artist Rob Shetterly will complete any final touch-ups before August 11, when the mural will be transported to the Osher Map Library at the University of Southern Maine.

There, full-size digital images of each section will be captured and used by Sign Works in Farmington to create exact replicas. The reproduction will be installed in its original outdoor location, while the original mural will be mounted inside the Hall—protected from the elements and still proudly on display.

AFL-CIO Better In a Union Bus Tour

In August the AFL-CIO’s  Better in a Union bus tour to fight for freedom, fairness and security across the nation will make a stop at the solidarity center more info to come.
