The Professional Fire Fighters of Maine (PFFMaine) has endorsed Troy Jackson as Maine’s next Governor.

"On behalf of the more than 1,300 career fire fighters, paramedics, and emergency dispatchers we represent, it is our distinct honor to endorse past Maine Senate President Troy Jackson—a leader whose commitment to the people of Maine, union workers, working families, and especially Maine’s first responders, has been unwavering throughout his distinguished public service career," PFFMaine wrote in a statement released Wednesday.

The union stated that Jackson has been "a relentless advocate for the values that matter most" to IAFF members in Maine from his earliest years in the Maine Legislature. It cited Jackson's support for the right to organize, and the ability to negotiate for better wages, benefits, and working conditions.

"One of Troy’s most significant contributions has been his leadership in fighting for binding arbitration for public employees, including firefighters and first responders," PFFMaine stated. "He understands that fair negotiations are the cornerstone of a strong workforce, and he has worked tirelessly to ensure our members—and all union workers—have a fighting chance to secure contracts that reflect their dedication and sacrifice. His support was instrumental in advancing legislation that gives labor a real seat at the bargaining table, ensuring that our wages, benefits, and workplace protections are not left to the whims of politics, but are secured through good-faith negotiation and fair dispute resolution."

The Professional Firefighters of Maine proudly represents over 1400 active and retired members including firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, communication operators, inspectors, training Officers and other Fire Department personnel in thirty-five locals of the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) throughout the State of Maine.
