President Phinney Speaks at Women for Troy Kick-Off

Troy Jackson at the "Women for Troy" launch on Aug. 26.
More than 100 women attended the kick-off of the first "Women for Troy" event in Brunswick last week. Maine AFL-CIO President Cynthia Phinney highlighted Troy Jackson's record of constantly showing up for workers and fighting for good union jobs, affordable child care, universal free school meals, lower prescription drug costs and reproductive rights. She discussed how Jackson had evolved on a woman's right to choose over time to become a strong supporter of reproductive rights.
"This is what we want in a legislator – someone who listens, learns, and follows through on what they learn," she said. "Troy has fought for us. He has sponsored and passed some of the strongest reproductive freedom protections in the country...The choice in this election couldn’t be more clear – Troy takes action and he is who he says he is. Susan Collins says she’s concerned but stays on the sidelines when it matters.
"Women for Troy is about uniting all of us – women from across Maine – to stand with Troy because he is the best candidate in the race," she continued, "he’s the one we can trust, he’s the one who will fight for us every single time. As a woman, and as a worker, and someone who lives in and loves Maine, I am proud to support Troy Jackson for US Senate."
