New Videos Features the Voices of CMMC Nurses Who Were Illegally Fired
The group Stand with Central Maine Nurses has released a new viral video featuring the voices of CMMC registered nurses who were illegally fired by hospital management for exercising their legal right to form a union. The company has so far fired 15 nurses in retaliation for forming their union to advocate for patients. CMMC nurses in the video describe how Prime has put profits over patients and cut costs by not hiring enough staff and providing proper equipment.

“When Prime first came in, they felt that the ICU did not need any aids. We were forced to sit on one-to-ones or float, watching nurses look out into the hallway and have nobody to help them,” said CMMC RN Erin Bennett, who was terminated for union organizing.
“Patients are at risk. We've tried to form this union to affect patient care. No patient or family should have to ask a nurse, ‘I know you're busy, I know you show at staff, but do you think you could find a minute to bring me to the bathroom?’ That is not acceptable on any level,” said nurse Sarah McLaughlin, whom Prime fired after working for the hospital for 31 years.
“I'm fighting for a union because nurses are advocates and we can't effectively advocate without a seat at the table,” said fired CMMC nurse Mariah Pfeiffer.
