Labor Reading Group Accepting Nominations for September

The Maine AFL-CIO Labor Reading Group is accepting new nominations for books, articles, pamphlets or films to begin discussing in September. Topics can include everything involving the world of work or unions such as labor law, labor history, or political or economic trends. Printed matter should be easily and affordably available (including copies in Maine libraries). Films should be available online without a subscription requirement. The next Labor Reading Group meeting will be August 27, 5:30, on Zoom. The group will be discussing CLR James' essay on participatory democracy, Every Cook Can Govern, which is available online for free. If you're not familiar with James, we encourage you to do a little background reading on this fascinating, challenging, paradoxical thinker.
