Labor Author Eric Blanc to Give Two Talks in Portland — Thurs. Sept. 25

Labor author Eric Blanc will be giving two talks in Portland on Thursday, Sept. 25. Blanc is the author of Red State Revolt: The Teachers’ Strike Wave and Working-Class Politics about the strike wave of teachers in West Virginia, Oklahoma, Arizona in 2018-2019 and most recently, We Are the Union: How Worker-to-Worker Organizing is Revitalizing Labor and Winning Big. The latter book, which the Maine AFL-CIO Labor Reading Group just read, is an account of labor's bottom-up resurgence and provides a roadmap for workers, unions, and social movements to win widely.

The Scontras Center for Labor and Community Education will host a “Beating the Billionaires through Grassroots Unionism: Lunch and Learn with author Eric Blanc” at the Salon A. McGoldrick Center, 35 Bedford St. in Portland at noon on Thursday Sept. 25. Lunch will be provided. Register here.

The Maine AFL-CIO Labor Reading Group will host Eric Blanc for a hybrid talk Thursday Sept. 25, 5:30 to 7pm at the Maine Irish Heritage Center, 34 Gray St. Portland and on zoom.
