Building Trades Apprentices to Work on Local 14 Solidarity Center Saturday, March 15

Apprentices with IBEW 567, Laborers 327 members and possibly apprentices of Plumbers & Pipefitters 716 will be doing renovations on the Local 14 Solidarity Center in Jay on Saturday, March 15 starting at 8am. Apprentices from as many as three trades will be installing light fixtures, running electrical outlets and wiring for heat pumps and potentially working on a bathroom and kitchenette. All trades workers and others are welcome to attend. Lunch will be provided followed by a presentation by Peter Kellman about how building trades unions collaborated with paper workers to honor the Jay International Paper Strike.
"We're trying to get the apprentices involved in fixing up and being involved in the Solidarity Education Center," said Kellman. "Rather than hire somebody to fix the hall, we're doing it with our people so it's part of the education process."
