BIW Firefighters (IAFF 5257) Win New Contract

After several months of collaborative negotiations, the Bath Iron Works Professional Firefighters Association, IAFF Local 5257, have announced that they have ratified a second contract with BIW. The union said that the new contract reflects "the commitment to workplace safety, operational excellence, and the critical mission of delivering the Navy’s ships on time to protect our nation and our families."

"The negotiating committee of Local 5257 appreciates the dedication and participation of all the members throughout this process," said Local 5257 President Jesse Bell.“We are confident that the new agreement will further strengthen the partnership between Bath Iron Works, IAFF Local 5257, and its professional firefighters.”

The union said the contract provides improved language that puts in line with other firefighter contracts throughout the state. The Bath Iron Works fire fighters joined IAFF in 2020.
