Auburn firefighter Mike Scott has announced his candidacy for Maine State Senate District 20, which includes the City of Auburn and the towns of Durham, New Gloucester, and Poland.

Mike Scott has spent a distinguished 30-year career as a firefighter, dedicating his life to protecting his community and mentoring the next generation of first responders. A long-time union leader, Mike is a member of IAFF 797, President of the Professional Firefighters of Maine and a member of the Maine AFL-CIO executive board. He has been a strong advocate for firefighter safety, fair labor practices, and the well-being of his fellow workers. In February, he will retire from the Auburn Fire Department and begin a new chapter of public service, seeking to represent his community in the State Senate.

“I’ve spent my career helping others and keeping my neighbors and community members in Auburn and across our region safe,” said Mike Scott. “I’m not a career politician; I come from a background of showing up early, working hard, and getting the job done. I’m running for the State Senate to make life better for retirees, families, and workers by keeping costs down, making sure people can access quality healthcare, and supporting the people who keep our communities running. I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work.”

“As a fellow union member, I’ve seen how much Mike cares about his community and the people who work hard every day,” said Rep. Kilton Webb (D-Durham). “Durham and our surrounding towns will be well served by his steady leadership and dutiful approach. I would be honored to call him my State Senator.”
