Former Maine Senate President Troy Jackson’s campaign for Governor announced last week that it has raised more than $400,000 since launching on May 19. The campaign reported that it is powered entirely by small-dollar donations, raising the most small dollar and individual contributions of any candidate so far. The campaigned reports:

  • 5,000+ contributions from working people, including contributions from each of Maine's 16 counties;
  • An average contribution of $51.34;
  • Support from key labor leaders and more than 30 organizations, committed to building a state that works for everyone.

“This early success shows that Troy’s story resonates far beyond party lines or political labels,” said Jackson campaign manager Christine Kirby in a statement. “People are stepping up because they know Troy is the only candidate in this race who has lived the same struggles they have. Mainers know Troy will fight for and deliver for working families, seniors and small businesses that have too often been left behind because he has the track record to prove it.”

The campaign said that unlike campaigns propped up by corporate PACs and wealthy insiders, Jackson’s fundraising totals reflect a broad coalition of Mainers who are ready for change, and "ready for a Governor who understands what it means to work hard and still struggle to get by, because he’s lived it."

Jackson’s campaign says it is positioning itself as the clear choice to unite rural and urban voters, independents, Democrats and Republicans. With momentum surging, the campaign is already laying the groundwork not just to win the primary but to build a governing coalition strong enough to win the general election and deliver real results for working Mainers.
