Maine AFL-CIO Endorses Sean Faircloth of Bangor for State Rep. in HD 24 Special Election

The Maine AFL-CIO has voted to endorse Sean Faircloth for State Representative in a February 25th special election for House District 24, which comprises parts of Bangor, Brewer, Orono and all of Veazie. A former Bangor mayor and Democratic State Senator, Faircloth is running against Republican Carolyn Fish, who serves on the Bangor City Council, to fill the seat vacated by Rep. Joe Perry. Perry was elected State Treasurer by the Legislature in December.
Based on both our past experience working with Sean, and his answers to our 2025 legislative candidate questionnaire, we believe Sean is the best candidate on labor issues in this race.
Sean Faircloth will work to raise wages, strengthen collective bargaining, and crack down on wage theft. He will publicly support working people who are forming unions and negotiating collectively bargained contracts. He supports providing pathways into good union careers for all workers and supports pre-apprenticeship programs and policies that help workers get well-paying union jobs.
Sean Faircloth will work to lower the cost of living. He knows that rising costs driven by national and global factors are directly impacting Mainers. That’s why he is laser focused on helping families thrive despite economic pressures. Sean will vote to make critical investments in affordable childcare, free community college and affordable housing.
Sean Faircloth supports building more housing for working people. He knows the cost of housing makes it harder to build a good life, raise a family in Maine and to live closer to where we work. He knows that to lower housing costs we have to build more housing. That’s why he supports investments in worker housing and building more affordable housing.
