At Labor Day events this past weekend, former Augusta Chipotle worker Brandi McNease  announced the launch of the Maine Labor Alliance, an organization dedicated to building worker power and solidarity in local communities. The new group, which is a project of the Maine Service Employees Association (SEIU 1989), focuses on helping workers take collective action and form unions as well as building a community of pro-labor allies to support workers.

“We want to see each other succeed and thrive, because we know that the issues that impact our neighbors and coworkers also impact us,” reads the Maine Labor Alliance mission statement. “That’s why we are building collective power together, getting connected across our industries, and joining the organizing wave — so we can build a powerful voice for justice and equity.”
