We are excited to announce that we have hired Eric Sawyer to be our new Office Manager at the Maine AFL-CIO. Eric is a member of the stagehands union, IATSE Local 114, where he previously served as Vice President for Safety and Training. Eric brings a great set of administrative, technology, bookkeeping, logistics coordination and organizing skills to this new role as well as a real passion for and commitment to the labor movement.

Eric has an extensive background in emergency management.  Earlier this year, he received the COVID-19 Pandemic Civilian Service Medal for exemplary service to the nation as part of the federal medical response to the pandemic. He also serves as a volunteer on a wilderness search and rescue team throughout Maine when the need arises.  He lives in Topsham with his wife Nicole and their brand new baby daughter Sloan, who was born in late October.

“Throughout my union tenure, I advocated for workers' rights and conditions and look forward to expanding that passion in this new role,” said Sawyer. “I’m excited to support affiliate unions and individual members and look forward to speaking with you! I can be reached at the office phone (207-622-9675), on my cell phone at (207) 624-1414, or by email at eric@maineaflcio.org."

Please join us in welcoming Eric Sawyer to the Maine AFL-CIO team!
