Veteran Labor & Civil Rights Organizer Peter Kellman to Hold Discussion on Song & Social Movement in American History — Feb. 27

Author and longtime organizer Peter Kellman will be holding a discussion titled “Song and Social Movement in Modern American History” on Feb. 27 from 10am to 11:20 am at the Maine College of Art, 380 Cumberland Avenue in Portland. The event is free and open to the public. Kellman said the class will "follow the thread of history that connects the Labor and Civil Rights Movements through art and music."

Peter Kellman is a lifelong union activist who participated in the Civil rights and Anti-war movements of the 1960s and the anti-nuclear/safe-energy and environmental movements of the 1970 and 80s. He has led unions, worked for the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) down south in the 1960s and the Maine AFL-CIO where he was a lead organizer at the 1987-88 International Paper Strike in Jay.
