Union members turned out for a free afternoon of baseball with the Portland Sea Dogs, the Double-A Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, sponsored by the Charles A. Scontras Center for Labor and Community Education at the University of Southern Maine. Unfortunately, the Sea Dogs lost 4-1 to the Somerset Patriots, the Double-A Affiliate of the NY Yankees, but attendees still had fun.

"Everybody had a really good time. Everyone was really appreciative that we did it," said Matthew Emmick, Director of the Scontras Center. "One of our goals is to create to community and it gave people who work hard the opportunity to have fun, learn more about the Scontras Center and deepen our relationships with the community."

Southern Maine Labor Council & Maine Building & Construction Trades Council President Jason J. Shedlock threw out the first pitch of the game.
