From Windham, Durham, Auburn and Vassalboro, to Searsport, Madawaska, Old Town and the University of Maine, union members from USW, UAW, IAM, IBEW, MSEA SEIU 1989, UFCW, Maine State Nurses Association, Carpenters, IATSE, IUPAT, LIUNA, Maine Labor Climate Council, APWU, Ironworkers and others continue to engage voters about pro-labor candidates running for the Maine State House and Senate. As of this weekend, we have knocked on more than 17,000 doors! Our goal is to knock on 25,000 doors before the election and have nearly 10,000 conversations.

Earlier this week, Food and Medicine teamed up with University of Maine Gradworkers (UAW) to canvass UMaine students and other Orono residents about the importance of voting in this upcoming election. The canvassers focused on engaging in meaningful conversations about why labor supports Sen. Mike Tipping (D-Penobscot) and Rep. Laurie Osher (D-Orono) for their work supporting working people.

Winterport

On a Thursday, a group of us went out to knock on doors in Winterport, Searsport and Stockton Springs to get out the vote for State House candidate and IBEW 1253 member Scott Cuddy and Sen. Chip Curry (D-Waldo). Meanwhile mill workers with USW 291 have been talking to hundreds of voters in Madawaska about pro-worker candidates Danny Martin for State House and Vaughn McLaughlin for State Senate.
