The next session of the Union Construction of Maine will start on July 10 and run until August 4 at the IBEW 567 hall in Lewiston. The academy, which provides a pathway into union registered apprenticeships with Maine's Building & Construction Trades Unions, has already received significant interest from a great pool of applicants for the four-week pre-apprenticeship training, but still has a few spots available. The program is particularly interested in receiving a few more applications from women.

If you or someone you know is interested in joining the *free* program, please complete the application as soon as possible. We will contact you for a follow up conversation.

“We’re excited to be ramping up for our next session. Our first session in Portland was a huge success – several of our graduates are currently in great jobs with the Laborers and Carpenters, and others are working their way through apprenticeship applications,” said Sam Boss, the Maine’s AFL-CIO’s Apprenticeship, Workforce & Equity Director. “Four of the graduates are finishing additional training with the People’s Inclusive Welding programin South Portland, which will give them a great foundation for apprenticeships with SMART Local 17, the Ironworkers 7, and UA 716. I’ve been excited by the enthusiasm of our Building and Construction Trades Unions for this program, and it’s also been rewarding to hear how well things have gone for our graduates. They’ve had great support from our signatory contractors, and I’ve heard great things about their contributions on job sites.”
