Earlier this month the Maine Legislature voted to define farmworkers as employees under Maine law and to ensure that they receive Maine's minimum wage. Governor Janet Mills has until Wednesday to sign it, veto it or let it become law without her signature.

For far too long, farmworkers have been excluded from basic worker protections. LD 398, "An Act to Make Agricultural Workers and Other Related Workers Employees Under the Wage and Hour Laws," is a basic human rights bill that will strengthen the health and wellbeing of all Maine's people and our farm economy.

Please contact Governor Mills and ask her to sign LD 398 by emailing her or calling her office at (207) 287-3531 (press 1) today.

You can send her an email here or call and leave a brief message, something like:

"My name is ____ and I live in ____. I'm asking Governor Mills to support LD 398 and grant farmworkers minimum wage rights."
