The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) is in a funding crisis. As employers across the nation carry out ruthless assaults on workers' rights by delaying the counting of union ballots with frivolous legal challenges and even firing union organizers, we need a fully funded NLRB to investigate unfair labor practices and conduct union elections.

Please take two minutes to send this letter to Senators Angus King and Susan Collins to demand funding for the NLRB.

The agency hasn’t had a budget increase since 2014, which is actually 25 percent budget decrease when factoring in inflation. Without the NLRB, we can’t hold corporations accountable or build worker power through stronger unions. It’s that simple.

The Maine AFL-CIO has organized meetings with Maine's Congressional delegation to seek their support in fully funding the National Labor Relations Board. Workers in these meetings have shared personal stories of how an underfunded, understaffed Labor Board has impacted them personally. Workers from the Bates Employees and Staff Organization (BESO, MSEA SEIU 1989), Starbucks and Little Dog Café all shared powerful personal stories.  Senator Angus King, Rep. Chellie Pingree and Rep. Jared Golden all committed to fight hard to fully fund the NLRB.

Union members and workers organizing met with Senator Angus King this week to share why funding for the NLRB is desperately needed.
