Sanford Federation of Teachers (AFT 3711) Distributes Free Books as Part of "First Book Program”

The Sanford Federation of Teachers (AFT Local 3711) recently hosted a First Book Program with help from the National AFT at Sanford elementary schools during teacher in-service days at the end of August. The First Book Program is an initiative by American Federation of Teachers that promotes early reading by donating thousands of books to the classrooms of their affiliates.

The SFT event was organized by Vice President Jennifer Raymond and was widely appreciated by teachers in early grades. The event donated approximately 25 books per classroom for grades pre-k-4th as well as books for special education classrooms. SFT also has another scheduled Student Debt Relief Clinic on Sept 15 for all members who need help with their overwhelming student debt.
