We send our heartfelt sympathies to IBEW 567 Brother Breslin Macneir, who lost his father in the attack on Schemengee’s Bar in Lewiston in October 25. As we wrote last week, Breslin brought his father, who was visiting from Florida, to meet some of his coworkers at the bar earlier in the evening and then left to go to an IBEW 567 union meeting just down the road with the intent of picking his father up afterwards. While they were in the meeting they heard shots fired.

According to the Portland Press Herald, Keith Macneir had just turned 64 and was enjoying a retirement of boating, fishing, biking and visiting Breslin whenever he had the opportunity. Previously he worked for the National Park Service at Virgin Islands National Park and Virgin Islands Coral Reef National Monument.

“He grabbed a big bag of fresh stone crabs off the boat from the west coast of Florida, got on a plane and flew up to Maine, and they had a nice birthday,” Brian Macneir, Keith’s brother, told the Portland Press Herald.

Brian Macneir told the Press Herald that Keith and Breslin were very close and typically spent birthdays and holidays together.

“They would spend quality time doing a lot of different stuff,” Brian Macneir said. “Breslin would take him around and show him the area up there – the beautiful rivers and streams, the wooded areas. They just had a great time.

Macneir added, "He’s going to be missed by hundreds of people. He had a great personality and smile. He was open with everybody.”
