Bedside nurses in Maine hospitals go to work every single day to care for our loved ones and community members who are sick or injured. Unfortunately, they often have so many patients assigned to them at once that they can't provide the best care, the care they want to provide, because they are running from room to room.
It doesn't have to be this way. LD 1639 is a bill now moving through the Legislature to make enforceable nurse to patient staffing ratios in Maine hospitals. This will ensure that there is enough beside nurse staffing to provide the best quality care to patients.
