Picket for Migrant Justice This May Day in Portland

International Workers' Day is this Sunday, May 1st and the Southern Maine Workers Center, Migrant Justice and Maine DSA will be holding events in Portland this weekend to support farm workers producing food for Hannaford Supermarkets.

          Art Build on Saturday, April 30 at Deering Oaks Park in Portland 10am-2pm

The group will be gathering by the bandstand in Deering Oaks to make signs and banners for an informational picket at Hannaford the next day. They will have materials that you can use, but feel free to bring your own art supplies and sign-making materials if you like. There will also be training on leafleting or informational picketing for the May Day action.

Informational Picketing 11-3pm: labor rights groups are supporting the Migrant Justice Milk with Dignity campaign by leafleting the parking lot of Hannaford's flagship store. Check-in is by the Back Cove Trail Parking Lot, across the street. Sign up to help here. Rally and Celebration at 3-4pm: After the picket they will gather across the street, by the Back Cove Trail to celebrate May Day. Come hear from community and labor organizations.
