The A. Philip Randolph Institute Maine Chapter will be holding two big events on Saturday March 9th at the Irish Heritage Center in Portland. In the afternoon, special guest Shay Stewart Bouley will host a workshop titled Authentic Dialogues: Beyond the Great Racial Awakening. Stewart-Bouley is an anti-racism educator and founder of the popular blog Black Girl in Maine.

The interactive session is designed to look critically at the current state of racism in our communities and our nation and the current impact for BIPOC folks in the post George Floyd era. A key goal will be teaching, sharing, and learning practical tools for working in our own communities to combat racism and to start conversations on addressing racism and difference in predominantly white spaces. This session is a mixture of lecture and small-group work, and runs 90 minutes.

The workshop is free, but donations are accepted, and will start at 2:30pm. In the evening APRI will hold its annual Celebration Dinner from 5 to 8pm at the same venue. Tickets are $35.
