Workers from Maine joined 750 members of the International Union of Elevator Constructors (IUEC) Local 4 at the union’s 125th anniversary in Boston last month. The union represents members in Eastern Massachusetts, the majority of New Hampshire and all of Maine.

“Today, we celebrate Local 4’s journey, which began all the way back in 1899,” the union wrote on Facebook. “In marking this milestone, we reaffirm the IUEC’s commitment to continuing this legacy of innovation and quality. Here's to 125 years of Local 4 elevating the industry - and many, many more to come.”

According to IUEC member Nick Barajas, the event featured a color guard of members with military service and a speech by former Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh who talked about the importance of this year's presidential election and labor. He also delivered a message from President Biden. The speakers were followed by dinner, a nine-piece band and dancing.

“It was a great time of celebrating our great union and it's history,” said Barajas.
