Laborers 327 Donates Backpacks & School Supplies to Students in Need

Laborers Local 327 recently donated 100 backpacks filled with school supplies to the Maine Immigrants' Rights Coalition (MIRC) for students in need.

“Together, we’re not just filling backpacks, we’re building futures for our young learners while helping to create a more inclusive and equitable environment here in the beautiful Pine Tree State!” The union wrote.

MIRC is an organization that works to improve legal, social, and economic conditions for immigrants in the state of Maine. It represents over 100 organizations including the Roman Catholic Diocese, Preble Street, Jewish Action Maine, Prosperity Maine, Presente Maine, Empower the Immigrant Children & Students (ETHICS), In Her Presence, the YMCA of Central and Southern Maine and several local organizations representing Sudanese, Somali, Khmer, Rwandan, Congolese, Afghan, Burundi, Angolan and other immigrant communities in Maine.
