In addition to advocating for legislation to boost wages and improve working conditions, this year we will be joining Maine Department of Transportation workers from Jay to protest the closure of the Jay highway camp and reassignment of union members in retaliation for reporting bullying and unsafe working conditions.
π Date: Thursday, March 27, 2025
π Location: MaineDOT Headquarters, 24 Child Street, Augusta, ME
β° Time: 2:15 PM - 3:15 PM
π¨ WHY WE'RE PICKETING
MSEA-SEIU Local 1989 union members, the MaineDOT highway crew in Jay, have been organizing against a hostile workplace. Instead of taking their reports of bullying and unsafe conditions seriously, MaineDOT has closed the Jay highway camp, reassigned union members, and will bring in other workers to do their jobs.
We demand: β Save the Jay highway camp β MaineDOT address bullying and intimidation
β **SHOW YOUR SUPPORT! **π£
MSEA calls on community members and labor allies to picket with them to stand up for our hardworking highway crews across Maine. This fight is about holding the state accountable and demanding it show respect to its employees. Spread the word and show up in solidarity!
