Congratulations to Brother Matt Beck (IBEW 1837) of South Portland who has won the Democratic nomination to represent House District 122 in the Maine Legislature! The special election to fill the seat to succeed the late Rep. Lois Galway Reckitt will be held on Tues. March 5. All 67 Democrats in attendance from HD122 voted to support Beck's candidacy.

In a statement, Beck said he is grateful for the support he received from the labor movement and looks forward to a great campaign.

"Even though HD122 is a heavily Democratic district, the Special Election on Tuesday, March 5 won't be easy," he said. "There will be heavy Republican turnout for the Presidential Primary on that same day and there will be an unenrolled independent candidate on the ballot as well. I plan and expect to have to work hard to win this race. With the help of my Brothers, Sisters and Kin in the labor movement, we can't lose.
