Fill Out Faith & Labor Survey!
We are pleased to have Mike Seavey volunteering to assist the Maine AFL-CIO to help strengthen bonds between workers and local faith communities and leaders. A former Catholic priest and life-long Mainer, Mike spent 35 years as a faith leader in Maine. As he likes to say, “Growing up in a union household and coupled with study of my church’s social justice teachings, I have a strong passion for workers’ rights.”
Are you involved in your local church, synagogue, mosque or other faith community? Mike would love to hear from you! Would you take a moment to fill out our faith & labor survey?
Throughout labor history, churches and other faith communities have provided essential support to workers and unions. Faith leaders have stood shoulder to shoulder with us on picket lines and proclaimed the justice of our cause from pulpits and public gatherings. Now is a good time to renew and strengthen these relationships. Mike has already had some success getting local faith leaders to sign onto a letter in support of the Bates College workers forming a union.
Mike is especially eager to connect with union members who are active in their congregations. You can start by filling out this survey or emailing Mike at mike at maineaflcio DOT org.
