The Maine Department of Labor has just released  its new Veterans Benefits & Services posterfor workplaces across Maine. The poster features information about veterans benefits and services,  crisis support, mental health and substance abuse treatment, legal services and veterans' educational, workforce and training resources;

The poster was developed thanks to anew law that requires workplaces with more than fifty employees to display posters with information  on veterans' benefits and services. Military veterans from Laborers 327, Machinists Local S6, USW and IBEW 104 testified in support of the measure. At the time, BIW shipbuilder Brandt McCollett — an Army Veteran and the Chair of IAM Local S6’s Veterans Committee — said the legislation will save the lives of veterans who suffer because they are unaware of the resources they earned in service.

Free printed posters and requirements may be obtained from the Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Standards, by calling 207-623-7900 or by visiting the Bureau’s website at www.maine.gov/labor/posters
