Discussion on Bargaining for Racial Equity & Racial Justice in the Workplace
Recently a number of Maine union members have used their collective bargaining power to advance fairness for workers of color and eliminate racism and inequity from the workplace. Join APRI-Maine for a discussion of what, why, and how they did it on Wednesday, March 16, from 6:30 - 8pm on Zoom. We'll also hear about the development of a national database for unions to share contract language they win on these issues. Feel free to log on at 6:15 for a little social time before the program!

Speakers on the panel will include:
- Erin Alvarez, MSEA-SEIU 1989 who works at Planned Parenthood where workers recently ratified their first contract.
- Chelsea Farrell, UAW 2110 who works at the Portland Museum of Art where the workers also recently ratified their first contract.
- Virginia Rodino, Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance (APALA) who is part of an effort to create a national database of contract language on racial equity so unions can share what they’ve won and also see what language other unions have successfully negotiated into their collective bargaining agreements.
Following short presentations by the panelists there will be time for questions and discussion. The panel will last approximately 1 hour and will be followed by a small amount of business.
