Food AND Medicine and the Eastern Maine Labor Council’s 21st Annual Solidarity Harvest is just around the corner! Event organizers are seeking volunteers to help assemble the 1,650 meal baskets that will be distributed through our partners all over Maine to union families on strike and other Mainers in need.

Volunteers will assemble boxesNovember 11 - November 22 at the Solidarity Center, 20 Ivers St. in Brewer. There are two shifts each day: morning shift 9am - 12:30pm and afternoon shift 1:30pm - 4:30pm. Feel free to bring a friend, bring a class, bring a group, or just yourself. Lunch will be provided between shifts so volunteers are encouraged to stay after or come early!

Due to COVID safety concerns, volunteers are required to be fully vaccinated and willing to wear a mouth/nose covering when within less than six feet of other people. When outdoors, masks are optional.

Other ways to stand in solidarity:

  • Sponsor one or more meal boxes! Mail a check or use the link to donate by card.
  • Can’t make it for a whole shift? Would you like to cook a dish that we could serve to our volunteers during a sorting day? Click on the volunteer link above and fill out the form or email Johnny@foodandmedicine.org
  • Help cook and preserve extra winter squash! If interested, email Johnny@foodandmedicine.org.
  • And new this year, we're collecting LOTS of boxes of stuffing (see below)

The only way this massive project happens is because of our volunteers and donors like you!
