Bangor Public Works Dept. workers (AFSCME 926) and their supporters will attend next week's City Council meeting over a longstanding labor dispute on Monday, January 27 at 7:30 pm in the in the City Council Chambers. At issue, is the city administration's decision to offer a week of vacation to all non-union workers while telling union workers they can only get it through contract negotiations. In addition, the city has told union workers that they would need to give  up that comp time to get the week of vacation.

These workers deserve their comp time as they regularly work a lot of hours, at all hours of the day and night, primarily due to snow plowing.  They often lose time with their families to make sure the roads are cleared for city residents. As an insult to injury, during a snow day, the rest of the Bangor city workers get a paid day off while public works works extra time to keep the roads clear.

If you are a Bangor resident, consider showing up to support our brothers and sisters.
